IOWA CITY, Iowa - The No. 23 Arizona State University wrestling team jumped back into dual competition Saturday afternoon on the road and suffered a 39-3 loss to the No. 5 Iowa Hawkeyes inside Carver Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa. The Sun Devils fall to 2-1 overall (1-0 Pac-10) on the year while the host Hawkeyes improved to 2-0 on the season.

The Hawkeyes opened the dual with wins in the first eight weight classes to jump out to commanding 36-0 lead, building their lead with two pins and one victory by forfeit. The lone victory of the dual came at 157 pounds where No. 1 Brian Stith needed a take down with 28 seconds remaining in the sudden victory period to take a 3-1 victory over Ryan Morningstar. One bout later, No. 9 Patrick Pitsch nearly upset No. 2 Mark Perry at 165, but Perry pulled out an 8-4 decision to end the dual with an Iowa 39-3 victory.

ASU's loss to the Hawkeyes pushed the all-time series record to 22-1-1 in favor of Iowa with the Hawkeyes winning their 14th dual in a row over the Sun Devils.

The Sun Devils return to dual action Sunday afternoon as they remain in the state to meet No. 6 Iowa State in a 1:30 p.m. contest with the Cyclones inside Hilton Coliseum.
