Box Score

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Lara Kezer scored the lone goal of the match and Kim Bingham made three saves to send Arizona State University to a 1-0 defeat of Denver in the opening match of the UNLV Rebel Classic in Las Vegas, Nev., Friday afternoon. The Sun Devils improved to 3-1-1 overall following the neutral site victory while sending the Pioneers to their first loss of the year and a matching 3-1-1 mark.

After playing a scoreless first half, the Sun Devils tallied the lone goal of the match as Kezer lobbed a shot from 30 yards out, lifting the ball over keeper Dani Wiley's arms for her second score of the season. Kezer has scored the last two goals for the Sun Devils after heading home their lone score in a 1-1 tie with St. Louis last weekend.

Bingham and the Sun Devil defense again turned in a solid performance and recorded the third shutout of the season, one shy of equaling the squad's total from 2005. Offensively, Brittney Doty fired five shots in the match while Courtney Crane sent two on goal. Five others recorded one shot as ASU outshot DU, 12-7.

The Sun Devils will remain in Las Vegas to face UCF in an 11 a.m. match Sunday morning.
