WALNUT, Calif. - Four members of the Arizona State University track and field team competed at the Mt. SAC Relays Thursday night in Walnut, Calif., with two marks meeting regional qualification standards and ranking highly in the history of the program. Ryan Warrenburg led the way as he set the school record in the men's 5,000m run in 13:43.29.

Warrenburg's time not only was a nearly 13 second personal improvement, it also broke the previous record by six seconds. That mark was held by teammate Aaron Aguayo, who set the mark last year after bettering Todd Lewis' record from 1990. Warrenburg also qualified for the NCAA regional race in the event.

Also attaining a regional berth was Brooke Bennett, who finished second overall in the women's 3,000m steeplechase with a personal-best time of 10:20.50. Her marks also moved her into the fourth position on the ASU all-time lists.

David Mehlhorn competed in the men's 3,000m steeplechase and placed 10th with a time of 9:21.74 while Jenna Wrieden rounded out the ASU entries with a 16th-place finish in the women's 5,000m run (17:08.61).

The Sun Devils open the 27th Sun Angel Track Classic presented by Coca-Cola on Friday with the hammer throw before the bulk of the meet is contested Saturday, starting at 1 p.m. with the discus. The running gets underway at 3 p.m. with the hurdles.
