TEMPE, Ariz. (www.thesundevils.com) -- Arizona State University men's swimming got underway at the Pac-10 Championships in Federal Way, Wash. held in the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center Wednesday. The men swam in two events Wednesday including the 200-yard medley relay and the 800-yard freestyle relay. After the first day of events, ASU is in fifth place at the Men's Pac-10 Swimming Championships.
In the 200-yard medley relay, senior Alex Smith (Houston, Texas), freshman Marcus Titus (Tucson, Ariz.), sophomore John Dwelley (Brentwood, Calif.) and junior Richie Crowder (Los Gatos, Calif.) finished in fifth place for the Sun Devils. They touched the wall in 1:30.93 to record the team's fastest time of the season in the event.
In the 800-yard freestyle relay, Sun Devil swimmers included sophomore Lucas Azevedo (Belo Horizonte, Brazil), freshman Sean Boyle (Lake Elsinore, Calif.), senior David Kolozar (Budapest, Hungary) and freshman Gal Nevo (Kibbutz Hamalia, Israel). They recorded a NCAA consideration time of 6:33.42. The time is the team's fastest in the event this season.
The men will continue the Men's Pac-10 Swimming Championships tomorrow in Federal Way, Wash. at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.
