TEMPE, Ariz. (www.thesundevils.com) -- Arizona State University swimming and diving fell to rival Arizona Saturday at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. The No. 23 Sun Devil men's team couldn't keep up with the No. 7 Wildcats as they fell 172-123, while the women fell to No. 6 UA 181-107.

On the women's side, sophomore Caitlin Andrew (San Antonio, Texas) won two events including the 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly. In the 100 free and 100 fly, Andrew touched the wall in 50.97 in the 100 free and 54.74 in the 100 fly to lead the Sun Devil women in first place finishes on the day. In the 1,000-yard freestyle, senior Kathryn Hennessy (Kansas City, Mo.) and sophomore Ellis Schieman (Shaker Heights, Ohio) finished in second and third respectively for the Sun Devils.

In diving, freshman Erin Hobbs (Calgary, Alberta) finished second in the one-meter dive with a score of 263.70 and third in the three-meter with a team season-best of 309.15.

For the men, sophomore Lucas Azevedo (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and sophomore C.J. Nuess (Medical Lake, Wash.) finished first and second in the 1,000-yard freestyle respectively. Azevedo was clocked at 9:08.04 and Nuess touched the wall in 9:10.00. Azevedo also finished second in the 500-yard freestyle. Senior David Kolozar (Budapest, Hungary) captured the title in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:48.43.

In men's diving, senior Joona Puhakka (Helsinki, Finland) won the one-meter dive and finished second in the three-meter dive. In the one-meter, Puhakka recorded a 335.40 and in the three-meter he scored a 343.80.

Before the meet, the ASU swimming and diving seniors were recognized. Next up for the Sun Devils are the Pac-10s. Women's swimming will compete in the Pac-10s Feb. 22-25 at Long Beach, Calif. while the men's swimming meet will be held in Federal Way, Wash. March 1-4. The men's and women's diving Pac-10 championships will also be held in Federal Way, Wash. Feb. 23-25.
