Led by freshman Louise Stahle, the seventh-ranked Arizona State University women's golf team is tied for second after the first round of the PING/ASU Invitational, being held April 1-3 at the par 72, 6,230-yard ASU Karsten Golf Course.
ASU carded a seven-over 295 on Friday and is tied with Oregon for second place. UCLA holds the tournament lead after the first round, shooting a three-over 291 on Friday. Rounding out the top five are California (297) and Pepperdine (302).
Individually, Stahle is tied with UCLA's Susie Mathews for the tournament lead after both players carded two-under 70s in Friday's first round.
ASU sophomore Tiffany Tavee and senior Erin Tone are both tied for 10th after turning in two-over 74s in the first round. Junior Alissa Kuczka is tied for 40th at five-over 77, while sophomore Charmaine Erasmus is tied for 51st at six-over 78. Sun Devil individuals include freshman Brooke Todare who is tied for 21st after carding a three-over 75, sophomore Lindsay Anderson who is tied for 63rd (79) and senior Nicole Deacon (T75th, 81).
The PING/ASU Invitational continues on Saturday and Sunday. Tee times begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday and at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday. The Sun Devils will tee off beginning at 9:28 a.m. on Saturday morning.
