OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Arizona State University diving teams were in action in the final day of competition Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Zone E Diving Regionals held at the Oklahoma City Community college Aquatic Center. Senior All-American Trisha Tumlinson claimed the women's platform title while All-American Joona Puhakka took fifth in the men's platform.
Tumlinson, who finished third in the one-meter and seventh in the three-meter events earlier this week, topped the field on the platform event with a score of 448.45. Her scores qualify her for the Women's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in the one-meter, three-meter and platform events. She is the 2005 Pac-10 Champion in the platform event and finished second at the 2004 NCAA Championships.
Puhakka, who won titles in the one-meter and three-meter events in competition earlier this week, finished fifth overall on the platform with a score of 456.35. His scores qualify him for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in the one-meter, three-meter and platform events. Puhakka is the 2005 Pac-10 Champion in both the one and three-meter events and is the reigning national champion in the 3-meter event.
The women's swimming and diving team hit the pool again March, 17-19 at the 2005 Women's NCAA Championships hosted in West Lafayette, Ind.
