TEMPE, Ariz. (www.thesundevils.com) -- Friday, No. 25 Arizona State University women's swimming and diving team was defeated by No. 7 UCLA 193.5-105.5 at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. The Sun Devils were led by Caitlin Andrew (San Antonio, Texas) who captured the title in two events including the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly.
Andrew recorded times of 51.45 and 55.03 in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly respectively. Her time in the 100-yard butterfly was an NCAA B qualifying time. Also, Andrew was able to help push the Sun Devils into second place on the last leg of the 200-yard medley relay.
Other notables for ASU include Sandra Steffensen (Treeleborg, Sweden) and Laura Ullrich (Centreville, Va.). Steffensen finished second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.76. Ullrich took third place in the 100-yard butterfly and helped the Sun Devil relay team take second in the 200-yard medley relay. Abra Armour (Sunnyvale, Calif.) also scored points for ASU by finishing third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.23.
Up next, ASU men's and women's swimming and diving will host USC Saturday November 19, at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center at 1p.m.
