TEMPE, Ariz. (www.TheSunDevils.com) -- Arizona State freshman outside hitter Margie Giordano recorded her second straight double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs to lead the Sun Devils to a 3-1 victory over Texas State to claim the Wyndham Buttes Volleyball Classic title Saturday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena. Game scores were 30-15, 30-24, 21-30, 30-25 in favor of ASU.

With their third straight victory, the Sun Devils evened their season record at 4-4. Texas State went 0-3 in the tournament to fall to 1-6 on the season.

Giordano (Glendale, Ariz.) was named MVP of the tournament averaging 3.70 kills and 3.20 digs per game over the weekend. The 10 kills and 13 digs marked her third double-double of the season. Sophomore libero Sydney Donahue (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) anchored the defense with 34 digs, tying for the fourth best performance in ASU history. Sophomore setter Rachel Mittelstaedt (Phoenix, Ariz.) led all players with a season-high 52 assists.

Giordano, Donahue and junior outside hitter Nicole Morton (Fallbrook, Calif.) were all named to the all-tournament team.

The Devils out-hit the Bobcats .271 to .161 and also tallied more kills (60-54) and digs (75-70) in ASU's first four-game win of the season.

Elizabeth Nwoke led TSU with 16 kills and 11 digs and was named to the all-tournament team. Stephanie Bruggeman added a double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs.
