TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State University track and field team turned in several outstanding performances at the Springco Invitational Saturday in Flagstaff, Ariz., including two automatic and four provisional qualifiers for the NCAA Championships. Overall, seven events were won by Sun Devil student-athletes with another 13 Top 3 performances being recorded on the day.

ASU had a big day in the 400m event with Domenik Peterson not only winning the race, but also meeting the NCAA automatic qualification standard. Peterson, who already has qualified for the NCAA meet in the 200m, punched his ticket to Fayetteville, Ark., in the quarter with a time of 45.82. His time also tied him with teammate Lewis Banda for the second-fastest time in school history on the indoor track.

Provisionally on the track, Porchea Carroll met the standard in the 60m dash as she finished second in the event at 7.43 while Cassandra Reed won the 400m dash with a provisional qualifying time of 54.36. In the field events, shot putters Julia Pedersen (16.35m) and Jennifer Kowacz (15.66m) met the standard while Trevell Quinley added his name to the men's long jump provisional list with a mark of 7.45m.

On the track, Kandace Tucker won the women's 200m dash (24.05) while Seth Amoo took first place in the 60m dash at 6.76. In the field, Carroll won the long jump with a leap of 6.01m while Ryan Zimmerman captured the men's triple jump (15.24m) and Travis Jones won the weight throw at 17.66m.

Following a week off from competition, the Sun Devils will compete in a pair of meets the following weekend, March 4-5. Indoors, several team members will head to one of several Last Chance Meets while the remainder of the team will open the outdoor season March 5 as they play host to the Bill Sawyer Invitational.
