The No. 22 Arizona State University women's gymnastics team defeated California, 195.55-181.5 Friday in front of 588 fans at Wells Fargo Arena. The Sun Devils evened their record at 4-4 and earned their first victory (1-3) in Pacific-10 Conference action this season. The Golden Bears fell to 5-3, 0-3.

Junior Ashley Kelly of ASU won the 13th all-around title of her career with a score of 39.575. She won on vault (9.85), uneven bars (9.9), balance beam (Tie, 9.9) and floor (9.925). ASU's Cassandra Jusino, a sophomore, took second (39.175). Senior Kari Muth of ASU was third (39.05).

California competed with only four student-athletes on the floor exercise and with five on vault and bars due to an injury suffered by senior Miho Maeda during pre-meet warmups on the floor exercise.

On vault, Kelly was victorious with a 9.85. Teammate April Boone and Cal's My-Lan Dodd tied for second (9.8). Jusino was fourth (9.775). Muth posted a career-high 9.6. As a team, ASU recorded a score of 48.6, its second-highest score of the campaign. The Golden Bears scored 48.075.

Kelly won the uneven bar competition, posting a 9.9 ASU's Lauren Powell and California's Dodd registered 9.875's on uneven bars, tying for second-place. Powell competed despite a foot injury and scored a season-high. Jusino placed fourth (9.85), also with a season-high. The Sun Devils posted a season-high 49.15 on bars. The Golden Bears scored 48.175.

Kelly and Muth shared honors on the balance beam, each scoring 9.9. Muth's score was a season-high. Freshman Josie Hancock of ASU was third (9.775). ASU's beam score was 48.625 (counting one fall) while the Bears recorded 46.95.

On the floor exercise, Kelly made it a clean sweep taking first with a 9.925. Boone placed second with a season-high 9.85. Dodd scored 9.825, good for a tie for third-place with ASU's Lisa Lanza, who posted a career-high. Muth tied a season-high with a 9.775. ASU's floor score was 49.175 while Cal collected a 38.3.

The Sun Devils play host to the annual UNO's Classic Friday, February 18 at Wells Fargo Arena against the Air Force Academy and Sacramento State University at 7:00 p.m.
