Tempe, Ariz. - No. 1 ranked UCLA defeated Arizona State University, 194.275-193.4, in gymnastics Friday in front of 1,151 fans at Wells Fargo Arena. The Sun Devils are now 3-3 on the season and fall to 0-3 in Pacific-10 Conference action.

Tasha Schwikert of UCLA won the all-around with a score of 39.625. UCLA's Kristen Maloney took second (39.575). Cassandra Jusino of ASU was third (39.225).

Kristen Maloney of UCLA won the vault competition, posting a 9.925. Bruin teammate Tasha Schwikert was second (9.9). Kelly and Cassandra Jusino tied for third (9.825). ASU had to count one fall on vault after tumbles by Kari Muth and Donna Chance to lead off the event. ASU posted a season-low 47.975 on vault. Junior Lauren Powell injured her right ankle on her vault and did not finish the meet. The Bruins scored 49.025 on vault.

ASU's top score on uneven bars was recorded by Kelly, who won with a season-high 9.925. Maloney and Schwikert tied for second-place, with each posting 9.9. Bruin Kate Richardson was fourth (9.85). April Boone and Jusino tied for fifth (9.8) for ASU. The Sun Devils registered their bet bars team score of the season, a 48.85. UCLA posted a 49.125 team score on bars.

Kelly won her second event of the evening, tying for first-place with Richardson on the balance beam with a 9.925, tying a season-high. Maloney was third (9.9) while Schwikert was fourth (9.875). ASU's 48.050 on beam was a season-low.

Tasha Schwikert placed first on the floor exercise with a 9.95. Jusino was second (9.9) and Maloney third (9.85). Boone's 9.8 was a season-high while Muth posted a season-high 9.775. ASU freshman Taryn Shockley tied a career-high on floor with a 9.725. UCLA posted a team score of 47.375 on floor, counting two falls (Christie Tedmon, Michelle Selesky and Richardson) and suffering two deductions for stepping out of bounds (Selesky and Courtney Walker).

The Sun Devil's next competition is in Corvallis, Oregon on Friday, February 4 against Pac-10 foe Oregon State at 7:00 p.m. at Gill Coliseum.
