SUNRIVER, Ore. - Led by freshman Louise Stahle who was second individually, the Arizona State women's golf team finished in fourth place at the Mercedes-Benz of Bend Fall Preview, held Monday-Wednesday at the par 71, 6,300-yard Meadows Golf Course.
Stahle just missed winning the first tournament of her collegiate career, finishing one stroke behind Oklahoma State's Karin Sjodin with a three-round total of 207 (68-66-73).
The Sun Devils carded a five-over 289 on Wednesday and finished fourth with a three-day total of 868 (292-287-289). Arizona State was just two strokes out of third and finished 10 strokes behind tournament winner Duke (858). Washington finished second at 864, followed by Oklahoma State (866), ASU (868) and Auburn (869) in the top five.
In addition to Stahle's runner-up showing, ASU junior Alissa Kuczka tied for 24th with a three-day total of 219 (73-72-74), while sophomore Tiffany Tavee turned in the best round of her young career on Wednesday, carding a four-under 67 to tie for 33rd (78-76-67=221). Sophomore Charmaine Erasmus finished in a tie for 62nd at 227 (75-73-79), while freshman Brooke Todare tied for 93rd with a final-round 75 (76-87-75=238).
The Sun Devils return to action Oct. 4-5 at the Price's Give 'Em Five Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M.
