STANFORD, Calif. - The Arizona State women's golf team shot a 24-over 312 Thursday and is in 18th place after the first round of the NCAA West Regional, being held Thursday-Saturday at the par 72, 6,154-yard Stanford Golf Course.

Sophomore Alissa Kuczka led the Sun Devil effort, shooting a three-over 75 in the first round to put herself in a tie for 28th, only three shots out of the top 10. Junior Erin Tone is two shots behind Kuczka and stands in a tie for 44th after carding a five-over 77 on Thursday.

UCLA leads the tournament after the first round, opening the Regional with a six-under 282. California is in second place and trails the Bruins by eight strokes at two-over 290. Tournament host Stanford is third (293) followed by Washington (298), Pepperdine (300), Washington State (302) and Denver (302).

UCLA teammates Hannah Jun and Charlotte Mayorkas are in first and second place after the first round of play. Jun shot a first-round five-under 67 to take a three-stroke lead over Mayorkas who is tied for second with Ashley Gomes of San Jose State at two-under 70. Allison Hanna of Ohio State, Anna Temple of California and Kim Welch from Washington State are all tied for fourth at one-under 71.

Other Sun Devil scores include redshirt freshman Danelle Perata who shot a seven-over 79 for a 67th-place tie, freshman Tiffany Tavee who is tied for 85th with a nine-over 81 and fellow freshman Charmaine Erasmus who sits in 105th at 13-over 85.

Play in the NCAA West Regional continues on Friday and Saturday with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. each day. Live scoring is available for each round of the NCAA West Regional at www.golfstatresults.com.

The Sun Devils will tee off at 11:50 a.m. on Friday and will play with Stanford and Pepperdine in the second round.

The top eight teams from each of the three NCAA Regionals (East, West and Central) will qualify for the NCAA Championships, being hosted May 18-21 by Auburn University at the Grand National Golf Club in Opelika, Ala.
