TEMPE, Ariz. - Sophomore Emily Westerberg scored 16 points to lead Arizona State to an 80-44 exhibition victory over Team Concept, a squad of former college players, Monday night at Wells Fargo Arena.

Arizona State opened the game with a 13-2 fun, including a pair of three-pointers by senior Betsy Boardman. Boardman had eight first-half points for the Sun Devils who led 31-18 at the half. Both teams struggled from the field in the first half with ASU shooting 28.6 percent and Team Concept shooting 25.9 percent in the first 20 minutes.

In the second half, the Sun Devils quickly took control of the game with a 26-2 run which put them on top 57-22 with 9:06 to play. ASU shot 60 percent from the field and made 13-of-15 free throws in the second half en route to the 80-44 victory.

Westerberg had 12 of her game-high 16 points in the second half and added five rebounds. Junior Amy Denson went 4-of-5 from the field for 11 points and turned in a team-high nine rebounds, while sophomore Aubree Johnson scored 14 points. Senior Lauren Stagg led the team with five assists and three steals in the victory. As a team, the Sun Devils turned the ball over just 11 times and outrebounded Team Concept 42-35.

For Team Concept, guard LaTasha Washington, who played her college career at Armstrong Atlantic, paced the team with 12 points and four assists. Former UConn standount and current Phoenix Mercury star Diana Taurasi joined Team Concept for the evening and finished with nine points and a team-high six rebounds.

The Sun Devils open the regular season later this week, traveling to the Women's Sports Foundation Classic in Baton Rouge, La. ASU will play Virginia in the first round on Thursday, Nov. 11 and either second-ranked LSU or Maine in the second round on Friday, Nov. 12.

ASU plays its regular-season home opener on Saturday, Nov. 20, taking on San Diego at 6:30 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena.
