TEMPE, Ariz. (www.TheSunDevils.com) -- Stanford All-American outside hitter Ogonna Nnamani recorded 14 kills and 10 digs to lead the No. 7 Cardinal to a three-game sweep over the Arizona State Sun Devils Friday night in Pac-10 Volleyball action at Wells Fargo Arena. Game scores were 30-16, 30-24, 30-20 in favor of the Cardinal.
The Cardinal won their seventh straight game to improve to 23-6 overall and 14-3 in Pac-10 play. Arizona State suffered its third straight setback to fall to 10-16 overall and 5-12 in league play.
Sophomore outside hitter Nicole Morton (Bonsall, Calif.) led the Sun Devils with 10 kills. Senior libero Stephanie Kohner (Anthem, Ariz.) led the ASU defense with 11 digs.
Nnamani, the reigning Pac-10 Player of the Week and a member of the 2004 USA Volleyball Indoor National team that competed in the Athens Olympics, notched her 10th double-double of the year of the season with 14 kills and 10 digs. She also added two service aces and three blocks for a team-high 18.5 points.
Sophomore outside hitter Kristin Richards notched her team-leading 18th double-double of the season with 12 kills and a team-high 12 digs. She also added three service aces.
The Sun Devils complete the 2004 season Saturday evening with a 7 p.m. match against No. 14 California. Kohner and injured outside hitter Natalie Harris (Tempe, Ariz.) will be honored as part of a a `Senior Night' ceremony. Donahue Gives Up Starting Spot: Freshman libero Sydney Donahue (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) has already broken the ASU single-match and single-season freshman records for digs, so she made an unselfish move when she offered senior libero Stephanie Kohner her starting spot in her final two matches with the Sun Devils. Kohner will player her final match in the Maroon and Gold tomorrow against the California Golden Bears. She is averaging 2.32 digs per game, including eight matches with 10 or more digs this season. Donahue leads the team and ranks sixth in the Pac-10 averaging 4.37 dpg. She entered the weekend averaging 4.51 dpg and had two digs in limited action Friday against the Cardinal.
