SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Senior Betsy Boardman scored 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting to lead Arizona State to a 73-53 victory over Seton Hall Friday night in opening game of the UTSA Thanksgiving Classic at Texas-San Antonio's Convocation Center.

With the victory, ASU improved to 3-1 on the year, while Seton Hall fell to 1-2.

The Sun Devils jumped out an early 6-3 lead, but the Pirates tied the game at 11 with 14:20 to play in the first half. Sophomore Emily Westerberg drained a three-pointer and scored a layup in transition to put ASU up 16-11 just under a minute later. ASU went to its perimeter game, draining four more three-pointers, including three by senior Kylan Loney and one by Boardman, to take a 32-19 lead with 7:01 to play.

ASU scored the final six points of the half to go into the locker room with a 47-29 lead. The Sun Devils shot a season-high 55.9 percent from the field in the first half en route to a season high for scoring in a period. Boardman led the Sun Devils with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting, including a pair of treys, while Loney had nine points, all from long range.

In the second half, ASU made 12 of 14 free throw attempts and never let Seton Hall closer than 16 points en route to the 73-53 victory.

Boardman led four Sun Devils in double figures for scoring with 14 points and knocked down two of her three three-point attempts. Loney and Westerberg each had 13 points and junior Kristen Kovesdy finished with 11. ASU shot 49.1 percent from the field and had a season-low 13 turnovers in the victory.

For Seton Hall, senior Ashley Bush led the Pirates with 22 points on 10-of-13 shooting.
