TEMPE, Ariz. - The No. 16 Arizona State women's swimming and diving team fell to the No. 3 Florida Gators 164-127 on Saturday in a dual meet at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. Junior All-American Florencia Szigeti freshman Christine Creek and junior All-American Trisha Tumlinson each had victories for the Sun Devils. The meet was conducted in short course meters.
Szigeti won the 100 freestyle for the second time in as many days, touching the wall in 57.02, a NCAA consideration time. She also finished second in the 200 free (2:03.85) and third in the 50 free (26.56). Creek claimed a commanding victory in the 200 breaststroke with her effort of 2:34.60, which was nearly three seconds faster than her nearest competitor and was her second collegiate win in this event. At her first collegiate meet at Hawaii in October, Creek swept both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events.
Tumlinson finished first on the 1-meter springboard with an effort of 269.85. She finished third on the 3-meter with a score of 256.80.
Tumlinson is the next Sun Devil in action as she travels to the World Cup Diving Trials Huntersville, N.C. next weekend. The trials are a competition to select the USA Diving Team that will compete at the 14th FINA Diving World Cup taking place in Athens, Greece, from February 18-22. Tumlinson is slated to compete on the platform in Huntersville. The entire women's squad is in action next the weekend of January 23-24, as they travel to Stanford on Friday and California on Saturday.
