Tough Road Ahead For ASU Volleyball
TEMPE, Ariz. (www.TheSunDevils.com) -- The No. 4 Stanford Cardinal swept the Arizona State Sun Devils in three games (30-24, 30-22, 30-22) in Pac-10 Volleyball action Thursday evening at Wells Fargo Arena.
The Cardinal improved to 11-2 on the year and remained perfect in Pac-10 play at 5-0. Arizona State, coming off a thrilling, come-from-behind five-game victory over Arizona last Friday, fell to 6-7 on the season and 1-3 in Pac-10 play.
ASU junior outside hitter Natalie Harris (Tempe) led the Devils with 16 kills on a .333 (16-6-30) hitting percentage. Harris also added nine digs and two blocks for 19.0 total points. Senior outside hitter Kim Mehlhorn (Tempe) contributed nine kills on a .333 hitting percentage (9-1-24).
Stanford junior All-American outside hitter Ogonna Nnamani led the Cardinal with 10 kills to keep her streak alive of recording double-digits kills in every match this season. Middle blocker Jennifer Harvey also put together an impressive match with nine kills on a .615 hitting percentage (9-1-13) and led all players with five blocks.
The Sun Devils return to action Friday with a Pac-10 match against California (12-0, 4-0 Pac-10) at 7 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena.
