AUBURN, Ala. -- The No. 15 Arizona State women's swimming & diving squad is in 12th place after the second of three days of competition at the NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships. ?gnes Kov?cs earned a fourth place finish in the 100 breast in Friday's finals for the Sun Devils.

In the first event of the evening, ASU's 200 medley relay squad of Florencia Szigeti, Kov?cs, Florence Mauro and Claire Hedenskog clocked the third-fastest time in school history with a 1:41.24, to place 13th and earn honorable mention All-America honors. Auburn's foursome won the event with a 1:36.69 to set new American, U.S. Open, and NCAA records.

The 200 freestyle featured fast swims from both Petra Banovic and Szigeti. Banovic placed 12th in the consolation final (1:47.79) after a morning prelim of 1:47.59 broke her own Sun Devil record that she set at the Pac-10 Championships. Szigeti finished the consolation final in 15th (1:48.04) after her morning prelim of 1:47.86 put her second all-time in school history. Both swimmers earned honorable mention All-America honors.

In the 100 breaststroke, Kov?cs earned first-team All-America honors with a fourth place finish in 1:00.21. Kov?cs climbed a spot from last year's championships, where she finished fifth in the 100 breast.

The 800 freestyle relay saw Banovic, Szigeti, Sandra Steffensen, and Kari Wilcox record a 7:18.10 to place 13th. All achieved honorable mention All-America honors.

ASU did not have an entry in the finals of the 400 Individual Medley, the 100 butterfly or the 100 back.

In the diving pool, Trisha Tumlinson recorded a 24th place finish after scoring a 431.90 in the second round of competition. In the preliminary round of optionals, Tumlinson registered a 275.00.

The final day of action at the meet begins tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. with the preliminary round. The finals begin at 6:00 p.m. The standings for the top 13 teams after day 2 are as follows:
