TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State track and field team sent seven of its student-athletes to the 2003 NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., this weekend with three of them competing Friday. Seneca Holmes (Jr., Waddell, Ariz.), Seth Amoo (So., Palmdale, Calif.) and Trevell Quinley (So., Tracy, Calif.) competed in the 60 meter hurdles, 200m dash and long jump, respectively.

In the hurdle event, Holmes clocked in at 8.25, but did not advance to the finals as her time placed her 10th among the 17 runners. Only the Top 8 moved from the preliminaries to the finals. Amoo, also in Arkansas to compete in the 4x400m relay, finished 15th of 16 in the preliminaries of the 200m dash with a time of 21.39.

Quinley, an All-American last year in the indoor long jump, recorded a mark of 24-feet, 9.75 inches to place 12th in the field of 16 competitors. Quinley was only about three inches shy of reaching the Top 8 and attaining All-America honors for a second year in a row.

Saturday will see Lisa Aguilera (Sr., Peoria, Ariz.) compete in the women's 3,000 meter run and the men's 4x400m relay team of Amoo, Lewis Banda (Fr., Bulawayo, Zimbabwe), Jason Barton (So., Phoenix, Ariz.) and Steve Fitch (Jr., San Ramon, Calif.) look for All-America honors. The outdoor runners return to action at home in two weeks with the Baldy Castillo Invitational, March 21-22, at Sun Angel Stadium.
