TEMPE, Ariz. - No. 1-ranked UCLA edged No. 7 Arizona State University, 198.400-198.150 in women's gymnastics in front of 1,103 fans at Wells Fargo Arena Sunday. ASU set a school-record with that team score in losing. The old record was 197.850 last year versus Arizona (3/1/02).

ASU's Maggie Germaine won the all-around with a score of 39.775. ASU's Ashley Kelly tied UCLA's Onnie Willis for second (39.625).

Jeanette Antolin and Jamie Dantzscher of UCLA tied for first on the vault with perfect scores of 10.0. Kristin Parker and Onnie Willis of UCLA tied for third at 9.925. ASU's team score of 49.375 was a season-high. For ASU, Ashley Ellsberry's (T-6th) vault of 9.875 was a career-high.

Maggie Germaine and Ashley Ellsberry of ASU and Kate Richardson of UCLA shared first-place on the beam with perfect scores of 10.0 (both career-highs and the first of their careers in any event for ASU). After those top three, Kari Muth of ASU was next and placed fourth with a career-high score of 9.975. Junior Amber Giorgianni of ASU scored a career-high (9.950) as did fellow Sun Devil frosh Ashley Kelly (tied career-high, 9.950). UCLA's Onnie Willis and Yvonne Tousek tied them for fifth (9.95). Sun Devil senior Cassidy Vreeke tied a career-high (9.925). ASU set a school record on beam with a score of 49.875, shattering the old mark of 49.650 (vs. UA, 3/1/02).

The uneven bars competition was won by Dantzscher with another perfect score of 10.0. Four gymnasts tied for second (ASU's Ashley Kelly and Maggie Germaine and UCLA's Yvonne Tousek and Kate Richardson) at 9.925.

On the floor exercise, Germaine and Vreeke of ASU (tied career-high) and the Bruins' Dantzscher shared first with scores of 9.950. Ellsberry tied a career-high of 9.925. Kelly of ASU scored a career-high 9.90.

Arizona State travels to Stanford next Friday, February 21 for a 7:30 p.m. PT meet with the No. 8-ranked Cardinal.
