BATON ROUGE, La. - Arizona State track and field completed day three of action at the 2002 NCAA Outdoor Championships hosted by Louisiana State at Bernie Moore Stadium in Baton Rouge, La., Friday, with only junior Brianna Torres competing in an event final.
Torres, who placed fourth at the Pac-10 meet, finished 10th in the women's 5000m race with a time of 16:41.50. Stanford's Lauren Fleshman won the NCAA title in 15:53.91.
The ASU women are still riding the eight points put on the board yesterday by junior Tiffany Greer's runner-up finish in the long jump, and stand in a seven-way tie for 19th. UCLA continues to lead the team race with 44 points, followed by South Carolina (40) and Florida (24).
The only other Sun Devil competing today was senior Tony Galaviz in the semifinals of the men's 110m hurdles. Galaviz's NCAA run came to an end in Baton Rouge with a seventh place finish in his semifinal heat (13.92). Although clocking a faster time than his prelim effort yesterday (13.98), Galaviz did not advance to tomorrow's final.

Host LSU leads the men's team race with 39 points, followed by South Carolina and Florida in a tie for second (19 points) and Texas and Tennessee tied for fourth (18 points).
