AUSTIN, Texas -- The 11th-ranked Arizona State men's swimming and diving squad remained in fifth place after the second day of the Texas Invitational at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center. Freshman diver Joona Puhakka once again grabbed a first-place finish, today in the 3 meter, 11 dive event (628.55), to continue his unbeaten run as a Sun Devil. Puhakka has won every diving event he has competed in this season.
Senior Christian Harcsas earned a fourth-place finish in the 100 back (48.58), recording his best time of the year and an NCAA "B" time. The other event where the Sun Devils clocked an NCAA consideration time was in the 200 medley relay. Harcsas, Russell MacDonald, Ace Tate and Bobby Zaabadich finished fifth after a 1:29.52 effort.
Steve McDonald managed a top-eight finish in the 400 IM (3:59.16) after recording a 3:56.78 in the prelims, the best time by a Sun Devil this year. Russell MacDonald secured seventh in the 100 breast (55.96) and missed an NCAA "B" time by four-hundredths of a second.
