TEMPE, Ariz. - Freshman Jill Noe started off the season with her first career double-double with 17 points and10 rebounds to lead the Arizona State women's basketball team to an 82-63 victory over Chicago State Friday night at Wells Fargo Arena.

In the first half, Arizona State took over the lead with 8:30 left in the half, going up 26-22 on a jumper by junior Iman Young and layup by Noe. The Sun Devils extended their lead to seven with 2:14 left to play after a three-pointer by sophomore Carrie Buckner and went into the locker room with a 39-33 lead. Buckner led the team with 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting in the first half, while Noe had nine points and seven rebounds, knocking down all three of her attempts.

Arizona State opened the second half with a 13-2 run over the first 4:09 to go up 53-35 with 15:41 to play and held a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game. Noe knocked down a pair of three-pointers in the Sun Devil run to cap off a 3-of-3 night from beyond the arc and scored nine of her 17 points in the second half. After going 1-for-7 in the first half, freshman Amy Denson had 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting in the second half, while the Sun Devils shot 61.5 percent in the second half, connecting on 16-of-26 attempts.

Noe lead the Sun Devils, who won their fifth straight season opener and their ninth straight home game, with17 points and 10 rebounds, knocking down 6-of-7 attempts from the field, including all three of her three-point attempts. Freshman Kristen Kovesdy came off the bench to score 14 points, knocking down a perfect 7-for-7 from the field, and also had three steals. Sophomore Carrie Buckner also reached a career high with 13 points, connecting on 5-of-6 attempts, pulled down seven rebounds and nabbed a game-high four steals. Sophomore Kylan Loney led the team with five assists and pitched in eight points, while with junior Iman Young chipped in with nine points and four assists.

For the Lady Cougars, four players scored in double figures led by freshman Tina Hill with 12 points and three assists. Senior Krisey Sanders and junior Kafayat Davis each had 11 points.

The Sun Devils, now 1-0 on the season, return to action Monday, Nov. 25, taking on Northern Illinois at 6 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena.
