TEMPE, Ariz. -- The 16th-ranked Arizona State women's swimming and diving squad was defeated by UCLA 151-87 Friday afternoon at the Sunset Canyon Recreation Center in Los Angeles. Sophomore All-American ?gnes Kov?cs maintained her strong start to the season by earning two first-place finishes for the Sun Devils and diver Trisha Tumlinson nabbed the only other first place finish for ASU in the 3-meter springboard.

Kov?cs continues her dominance in the 200 breaststroke, where she finished first (2:14.90) and beat her nearest competitor by almost eight seconds. She recorded the fastest time in the NCAA this year for the 200 breast (2:13.40) earlier this month against Wisconsin. Kov?cs also touched the wall first in the 200 IM (2:03.64), beating her nearest competitor by over four seconds.

Claire Hedenskog earned the only second-place finish on the afternoon for ASU with her 51.47 in the 100 free. Third-place finishes were recorded by Kathryn Hennessy in the 500 free (10:18.44), Petra Banovic in the 200 free (1:51.49), and Laura Ullrich in the 50 free (24.28). The Bruins won nine of the first ten events on the day.

Tumlinson finished first in the 3-meter diving event for the Devils (299.25) to record her best score of the year. The women are in action tomorrow, November 23, against #7 USC in Los Angeles.
