TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's soccer team (10-4-2: 3-3 Pac-10) fell to .500 in Pac-10 play after a 1-0 loss to the Washington State Cougars (9-5-2: 3-1-2 Pac-10) Friday night at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium. With under 10 minutes to go in the match, Arizona State freshman midfielder Manya Makoski had the Sun Devils best scoring opportunity of the match, but her shot ricocheted off the far post on her 20-yard effort.

Washington State forward Shelby Brownfield got the only goal of the game 31 minutes into the first half. Alix Rustrum found herself in the ASU penalty area and attempted a backheel pass to Brownfield. The ball took a deflection off of a Sun Devil defender and fell to Brownfield who rifled a shot home off the crossbar.

The Cougars outshot the Sun Devils by a 12-8 margin. ASU goalie Kelly Fitzgerald had four saves on the night. The Sun Devils final regular season home game is Sunday, November 3, at 11:00 a.m. against the Washington Huskies.
