TEMPE, Ariz. -- For the second year running, ASU swimmers ?gnes Kov?cs and Nick Brunelli won their respective pentathlons at the annual meet that also features ASU swimming alumni. The meet called for the swimmers to compete in the 100 fly, 100 back, 100 breast, 100 free and 200 IM. The swimmer with the lowest combined five-event total won the competition.

Kov?cs, Pac-10 champion and second-place finisher at last season's NCAAs in the 200 breast, dominated the women's side with her total time of 6:00.72 outdistancing Petra Banovic, the second place-finisher, by almost 20 seconds. With her time of 1:03.86 in the 100 breast, Kov?cs has already registered an NCAA "B" qualifying time in that event.

The second- and third-place finishers for the women are transfers new to the program. Banovic, a transfer from San Jose State, earned second-place with a 6:20.17. Courtney Caples, a transfer from Miami (Fla.) got her third place with a combined time of 6:23.26.

On the men's side, Nick Brunelli finished first with his time of 5:29.40. Places two through six were all occupied by newcomers to the program, with freshman David Kolozar earning second-place with his 5:34.51. Third place was Auburn transfer Evan Rahaeuser (5:36.05), fourth was Steve McDonald (5:38.90), fifth was Tom Hickman (5:45.34) and Leonardo Martins (5:46.46) finished sixth.
