TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Chad Prewitt scored 18 of his career-high 27 points in the second half, and Arizona State denied Oregon its first sweep of Pac-10 games in the desert by beating the Ducks 95-88 Sunday night.
Prewitt, who also had a career-high 12 rebounds, elevated for a one-handed 14-footer with 1:23 left that proved to be the winning basket, opening an 89-86 lead.
Curtis Millage had a three-point play with 25 seconds to go after the Sun Devils, who took a timeout with 36 seconds remaining, passed up the temptation to stall out a new shot clock.
Millage also made a free throw to finish with 17 points, and Kyle Dodd got the rebound of Oregon's last shot and made a triumphant dunk at the buzzer.
Kenny Crandall scored 14 for Arizona State (9-4, 2-2), hitting all five shots and his only free throw, and Tommy Smith had 10.
Oregon's Luke Jackson had 19 points, Luke Ridnour 17, Frederick Jones 15 and Anthony Lever 14.
Robert Johnson had 12 points and 13 rebounds for the Ducks (10-4, 3-1), who had a six-game winning streak after beating No. 15 Arizona 90-80 Friday night in Tucson.
But Ridnour, who had a career-high 23 points in that game, was 5-of-14 in this game, and Jackson was 5-of-15. If not for shooting 34-of-43 from the line, the Ducks would have been blown out by a team they beat 103-90 in Eugene, Ore., on Dec. 20.
The Sun Devils led by three points at halftime and never let the Ducks ahead.
Oregon came within one point four times, the last on two free throws by Jackson with 1:08 to go.
But with 36 seconds to go, Prewitt's missed 3-pointer went out of bounds off Ridnour, and Arizona State kept the ball.
The Sun Devils made 11 of their first 15 shots, building a 13-point lead with a 17-3 run.
Reserves Justin Allen and Awvee Storey capped it with a 3-pointer and baseline jumper, respectinb.vely, lifting Arizona State to a 28-15 lead with 11:21 left in the first half.
But the Ducks came back on free throws, cutting the deficit to 32-26 when Lever broke a 7:31 field-goal drought with a 3-pointer at the 8:29 mark.
That started a 14-4 run capped by Ridnour's 3-pointer for a 37-36 Oregon lead with 4:30 to go.
But Prewitt scored four points and Millage two down the stretch as the Sun Devils took a 44-41 halftime lead.
