WESTWOOD, Calif. -- The eighth-ranked UCLA women's volleyball team completed the weekend sweep on Saturday night, downing Arizona State 3-0 at Pauley Pavilion. Game scores were 30-19, 30-20, 30-24. With the win, UCLA improves to 7-2, 2-1 Pac-10, while ASU falls to 5-3 (1-3 Pac-10).
UCLA controlled the match throughout, as Kristee Porter and Lauren Fendrick recorded six kills apiece in the first game of the match. Fendrick had her six kills on just nine attacks for a .667 attack percentage to go along with six digs and two block assists.
The Sun Devils have now dropped three straight matches and have not defeated USC or UCLA since a season sweep back in 1995. ASU was led by Senior Jami Coughlin who tallied nine kills and 17 digs.
Arizona State returns to action next Friday (Oct. 5) in Tucson with a 7 p.m. match against rival Arizona. The Wildcats were also swept this weekend in Los Angeles, dropping a pair of 3-0 matches to the nationally ranked Trojans and Bruins.
