TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Awvee Storey scored four of his 16 points in the final 48 seconds as Arizona State overcame a 10-point deficit in second half for a 73-64 victory over UC Riverside Tuesday night.
Storey's 18-footer in the last 48 seconds gave Arizona State (2-2) a 69-63 lead. His follow-up shot with 31 seconds left brought it to 71-64.
Freshman guard Jason Braxton made two three-pointers in the final nine minutes, the first giving Arizona State a 55-54 lead.
Mark Miller led Riverside (0-2) with 11 points, while Vili Morton and John Galbreath added 10 apiece.
Braxton, Kenny Crandall, Shawn Redhage and Chad Prewitt had eight points apiece for Arizona State.
Storey, who led the Pacific-10 Conference in rebounding last season, had 10 rebounds while recording his first double-double of the season.
Arizona State held Riverside without a field goal until Miller's layup with 11:34 remaining in the first half while building a 23-6 lead.
Arizona State, which lost a 15-point lead in a home loss to Portland State on Nov. 20, led 27-10 before Riverside went on an extended run to end the first half and start the second.
Cal-Riverside outscored Arizona State 44-17 in the next 22 minutes to take a 54-44 lead on Ted Bell's three-pointer with 12:41 remaining.
