TEMPE, Ariz. - Oregon's Annie Murphy scored the Ducks' first goal, as well as the game-winner in overtime to seal a 3-2 Pac-10 soccer win over Arizona State this afternoon at the Sun Devil Soccer Stadium. Oregon tallied the lone goal in the first half to take a 1-0 halftime lead, but the second half featured a frenzy of shots and goals. ASU scored both of its goals in the second half, while the Ducks also tallied one more with the game-winner coming in the 103rd minute of play. ASU posted 21 shots (13 on goal), while Oregon had 14 (11 on goal).
Oregon (7-5-1, 1-3-0 Pac-10) opened the match with a goal in the fifth minute of action when Murphy took a pass from about 15 yards out from Chalise Baysa, through traffic, and kicked the ball pass ASU goalkeeper Kristin Slater.
Arizona State (7-7-0, 1-3-0 Pac-10) tied the game in the 65th minute when Patrice Feulner received a slip pass from Stacey Tullock and shot the ball in the net from 10 yards out. The goal was Feulner's team-leading 10th of the year. However, the tie was short lived as Oregon pushed the lead to 2-1 just two minutes later. Beth Bowler shot the ball from 10 yards out that was initially stopped by Slater, but the ball slipped through her hands and rolled into the goal. Baysa was credited with her second of three assists on the day.
The Sun Devils answered in the 83rd minute when Antoinette Marjanovic slipped a pass to Andrea Waite in front of the goal where she then tapped the ball pass the Ducks' goalkeeper.
The match would then head into overtime tied a two apiece, the first for ASU this season and the second for Oregon. Oregon looked to have the game won just minutes into overtime when Baysa lined up for a penalty kick, but her shot was too strong and clipped the top of the crossbar, sailing out of bounds.
ASU had several rushes in the extra frame, but Oregon countered and ended the match with a rush of their own. Murphy took the pass from Baysa and went around Slater lifting the ball into the goal just as an ASU defender got to her.
