Volleyball Still Perfect On The Road With 3-0 Win Over Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. -- Senior outside hitter Amanda Burbridge recorded 17 kills to lead the Arizona State Sun Devils to a 15-5, 15-9, 15-7 victory the University of Oregon Ducks Friday night in Pac-10 volleyball action at MacArthur Court in Eugene, Ore.

With the win, the Sun Devils improved their season record to 12-4 and are now 4-2 in Pac-10 play. ASU is now 10-0 on the road in 2000, having only lost four games in those matches. Oregon falls to 7-7 in 2000, and 0-6 in conference play. ASU owns the career record in the series vs. the Ducks, 22-7, and have now won five straight matches against Oregon.

Head coach Patti Snyder-Park, who played collegiately at Portland State in Oregon, is now 10-2 for her career vs. the Ducks in Eugene. With a three-game loss by Oregon State to Arizona, the Sun Devils now own sole possession of fourth place in the Pac-10. ASU will battle the Beavers Saturday evening in Corvallis.

Burbridge (Scottsdale, Ariz.) hit .250 for the match, with a team high 17 kills. The senior, who ranks 13th nationally in kills and sixth on the career record list at ASU, is averaging 5.22 kills per game in 2000.

Senior middle blocker Michelle Mortensen (Chandler, Ariz.) played, and played well, despite sitting out most of the week with illness. Mortensen finished with eight kills and three block assists. Sophomore Julia Leddy (Mesa, Ariz.) had eight kills and two block solos to contribute to the Sun Devils seventh win in the last eight matches. Freshman setter Cheryl Anglin (Queen Creek, Ariz.) had 38 assists in the winning effort.
