During the second day of action at the 2007 Pacific-10 Conference Diving Championships in Way, , redshirt freshman diver Micky Benedetti leapt into the record books Saturday, becoming the Pac-10 Conference's Men's 3-Meter Diving Champion.

Benedetti, December's Pac-10 Conference Diver of the Month, dominated the event's finals round, posting a total score of 433.10, finishing over 70 points ahead of second-place finisher Kenny Jenkins of USC.

Benedetti's championship marks the ninth 3-meter Pac-10 championship in ASU history and makes 2007 the fifth consecutive year that a Sun Devil has captured the conference 3-meter crown, following former Sun Devil diving legend Joona Puhakka's four straight championships.  ASU has showcased six of the past eight Pac-10 men's 3-meter champions, as Marc Briggs also earned the title in 2000.

"I'm really happy with my performance," Benedetti said. "This is a big meet and I'm glad that I did my best dives today."

Sophomore Billy Sweeney narrowly missed earning his way to the finals round of the 3-meter diving championships, recording a preliminary score of 304.25, only 1.20 points off the eighth-place finisher.

The Sun Devil women competed in the 1-meter diving championships, and in the event's preliminary round, senior Cassidy Farwell recorded a score of 237.30 and sophomore Erin Hobbs posted a mark of 196.05.

ASU's men and women will conclude the 2007 Pac-10 Diving Championships Sunday, as both teams will compete in the platform diving championships.
