Men's Swimming & Diving Takes Fourth At Dallas Morning News Classic

DALLAS, Texas -- The 13th-ranked Arizona State men's swimming and diving team finished the Dallas Morning News Classic in fourth place after scoring 254 points over the two day meet. Diver Joona Puhakka won the competition on the springboard for the second day in a row, winning on the 3-meter this evening with a 376.80.

Top three finishes for the swimmers were registered by Christian Harcsas in the 200 back (2nd, 1:46.29), Leonardo Martins in the 200 breast (3rd, 2:03.09), Nick Brunelli in the 100 free (2nd, 44.51), and David Kolozar in the 200 fly (3rd, 1:48.35). The 200 free relay squad also grabbed a third place finish with a 1:22.26 in the final event of the meet.

The meet was won by California, the defending champions from 2002, and Michael Cavic from Cal earned most outstanding swimmer honors for the weekend. The Sun Devils will be in action next Friday, January 24, when the entire men's and women's squad hosts Cal at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center at 2 p.m. The next day, Stanford visits for a matchup with the women at 12:00 p.m. and the men at 2:00 p.m.
