ASU TRAVELS SOUTH FOR PAC-10 CHAMPIONSHIP: The Arizona State men's golf team travels to Tucson for the Pac-10 Championships April 26-28 at The Gallery at Dove Mountain Golf Course (par-72, 7,412 yards). The 10 schools will play 36 holes on Monday, April 26, followed by single rounds on Tuesday, April 27, and Wendesday, April 28. ASU is coming off its best tournament of the year as it shot a tournament record 43-under 821 to win its Thunderbird Invitational on April 9-10 at ASU's Karsten Golf Course, as sophomore Alejandro Canizares tied a tournament record with a 16-under 200. The Sun Devils will tee with Washington at beginning at 7:48 a.m. for its first 36 holes on Monday. The Pac-10 Championship counts the low five scores from the six-man teams. UCLA won the team title last year with a 1-under 1,439 while Bruin John Merrick took home the individual title with a 12-under 276.
ASU AT THE PAC-10 CHAMPIONSHIPS: Arizona State has won 11 Pac-10 titles in its 25 seasons, including a conference record six straight from 1995-2000. In addition to the six straight Pac-10 titles, ASU's other five Pac-10 titles have come in 1979, 1981, 1989, 1990 and 1993.

4) Jesse Mueller...5-8 junior from Mesa, Ariz...has a 73.14 stroke average...2001 Arizona Amateur champion.
5) Kendall Critchfield...5-8 junior from Mesa, Ariz....has played in four events on the year...has a 74.08 stroke average...shot a 9-under 63 in the first round of the ASU Thunderbird Invitational on April 9.
6) Mike Derminio...6-3 senior from Scottsdale, Ariz....has a 72.83 stroke average in four tournaments on the year.

SUN DEVIL QUICK NOTES: ASU has won four tournaments this year (New Mexico's Tucker Intercollegiate, UNLV's Southern Highlands Championship, the National Invitational Tournament in Tucson and its Thunderbird Invitational), its most since the 1999-2000 also won four...the four tournament wins is tied for second in the nation, as top-ranked Florida has won six...senior Chez Reavie has seven top-10 finishes on the year and 21 in his four-year career...ASU has finished in the top five at the NCAAs in five of the past nine years and has won the Pac-10 title six of the past nine years. The Sun Devils also won national championships in 1990 and 1996. GOING FOR SEVEN: ASU head coach Randy Lein has led ASU to seven Pac-10 titles in his 11 seasons. ASU won titles in 1993, Lein's first year, and then won six straight from 1995-2000. ASU finished second in 2001 and third in 1994 and 2003. Since joining the Pac-10 in the 1978-79 school year, ASU has finished out of the top five just twice in its 25 championships.
ASU HEAD COACH Randy Lein: Randy Lein has coached 60 tournament victories in his 22 seasons, tutored 43 All-Americans and added the top accolade in collegiate golf in 1995-96 - the NCAA title - to his collection as the Sun Devils won the title in Chattanooga, Tenn., with a three-stroke victory over UNLV at the Honors Course. In his 12th season as ASU's coach, Lein has guided ASU to 36 tournament victories (including a school record six in 1995-96), seven Pac-10 titles, four NCAA West Regional wins (three of the past four) and eight top-10 finishes at the NCAAs including the 1996 title. In addition, Lein has tutored NCAA medalist Todd Demsey and 11 All-Americans (23 occasions): Todd Demsey (3), Chris Hanell (3), Paul Casey (3), Cade Stone, Chris Stutts, Joey Snyder (2), Scott Johnson (2), Darren Angel (2), Paul Casey (3), Jeff Quinney (3), Matt Jones and Chez Reavie (1). He has won Pac-10 Coach-of-the-Year five times (1993, 1995, 1996, 1999 and 2000) while at ASU and twice at USC (1980 and 1986). Lein (pronounced "Line") is a 1975 graduate of Cal State Northridge.

SUN DEVILS AS PAC-10 MEDALISTS: Paul Casey won three straight Pac-10 titles from 1999-2000, which is the last time a Sun Devil won the title and a conference record. Other Sun Devils who have won the Pac-10 championship are Scott Johnson (1997), Phil Mickelson (1990), Dan Forsman and Tony Grimes (1981), Jim Bertoncino (co-medalist in 1980) and Scott Watkins and Dan Croonquist (1979).
