USA Softball Release
OKLAHOMA CITY - One day after being named the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week, Arizona State softball's Dallas Escobedo was dubbed the USA Softball National Collegiate Player of the Week on Tuesday morning.

Escobedo's trophy case for 2013 includes three Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week accolades and now USA Softball National Collegiate Player of the Week. It is the second time the Glendale, Ariz., native has earned the national weekly award, the first time as a freshman in 2011.

This season, ASU has had seven Pac-12 Player/Pitcher of the Week honorees and two USA Softball Players of the Week (Cheyenne Coyle, April 30). Under head coach Clint Myers, ASU softball has had six pick up the national weekly award and 37 earn conference weekly honors.

Against Oregon, Escobedo picked up one win and one save in the regular-season final series.  Escobedo held the 2013 Pac-12 Champions to a .119 batting average and struck out 19 Ducks along the way. She allowed just two runs in 13.0 innings for a 1.08 ERA.

For her career, Escobedo has 86 wins and is just two shy of tying second all time at ASU in the category. Her season tally of 25 wins ties her for eighth in single-season records and her 289 strikeouts is seventh. Heading into the postseason, Escobedo ranks eighth nationally in strikeouts (289.0), 13th in strikeouts per seven innings (9.7) and 22nd in wins (25).

Escobedo and crew will play in the program's 25th NCAA Tournament beginning at 3 p.m. PT on Friday against San Jose State. More information about the NCAA Tournament can be found here.

This week's USA SB Collegiate Player of the Week recorded 19 Ks, allowed just 2 runs on 5 hits facing a Top 5 team. bit.ly/12sKFci
