Women's diver Elina Eggers has been named ASU's Athlete of the Week for the week ending December 26th. Her record-breaking performance allowed ASU to defeat New Mexico State and Northern Arizona. Eggers swept the springboard events for the second time this season and has led the Sun Devils to a 5-3 overall record.
It took only three meets for sophomore Elina Eggers to break a five-year standing ASU 1-meter dual meet record. With 339.90 points, the 2008 Olympic finalist crushed Trisha Tumlinson's record of 326.35 from 2005. Eggers additionally won the 3-meter, tallying 327.85 points in the process. Both scores were NCAA automatic qualifying scores.
