Eight Sun Devils Earn All-America Honors

After Arizona State University's men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed action at the 2007 NCAA Championships in Minneapolis, Minn., eight Sun Devils earned All-America recognition following a series of excellent individual and relay performances.

Junior Caitlin Andrew led the way for the Sun Devil women, earning 100 butterfly All-America honors after finishing third in the nation in the event at the 2007 NCAA Championships with an ASU record time of 52.02, marking the third consecutive year in which she's earned All-America acclaim.   

ASU's excellent relays were recognized as well, as the 200 freestyle relay consisting of Andrew, sophomore Jen Beckberger, junior Lindsey Brown and senior Abra Armour earned honorable mention All-America recognition, as did the 200 medley relay featuring senior Carissa Abe, freshman Sara McDaniel, Andrew and Beckberger.  The same quartet achieved honorable mention All-America recognition for their effort in the 400 medley relay. Highlighting the Sun Devils' relay efforts at the NCAA Championships were the achievement of new school 200 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay records.

Redshirt freshman Micky Benedetti closed out his remarkable rookie season at ASU by earning platform diving All-America honors, while earning honorable mention All-America recognition in both one-meter and three-meter diving events. The 2006-07 Pacific-10 Conference three-meter and platform diving champion also finished as the national runner-up and Zone E champion on platform diving.

Junior CJ Nuess also captured a pair of honorable mention All-America honors, doing so in the 1650 freestyle and 400 IM.
