Cross Country Travels to Tucson for NCAA Regionals

Arizona State's cross country team looks to qualify for the NCAA Championships this weekend in Tucson, at the NCAA West Regional. The Sun Devils best chances are Mary Duerbeck on the women's side and Matt Repak and Ari Rodriguez on the men's side.

Duerbeck has been ASU's top finisher at all five meets the Sun Devils have run this year. She won the ASU Invitational title and finished 14th at the Pac-10 Championships. Favorites in the women's race include Arizona's defending national champion and three-time Pac-10 champion Amy Skieresz, Stanford's Marry Cobb, Julia Stamps and Sarna Renfro, Oregon's Marie Davis and Washington's Margaret Butler.

Repak has been ASU's top finisher in the Sun Devils' last two meets, including a 28th place finish at the Pac-10s. Rodriguez topped the Sun Devil list in ASU's first three meets of the season. The men's race will feature Pac-10 champion Bernard Lagat of Washington State, Stanford's Brad Hauser, Brent Hauser and Nathan Nutter, and UCLA's Mebrahtom Kelfiezighi.
