Cross Country Season Gets Underway
The 1997 men's and women's cross country season gets underway this Saturday at the California Irvine Invitational in Irvine, Calif.
In head coach Walt Drenth's second season at the helm, the Sun Devils bring an almost entirely new roster into a season that has five regular-season events.
Youth Movement
Twenty-two (11 men and 11 women) of 34 roster members on the 1997 squad are newcomers to ASU. Of those 22 newcomers, all but one are freshmen. That leaves 12 returners two of which, Matt Repak and Ari Rodriguez, have more than one year's experience. Rodriguez, Repak and Andy Carusetta return for their senior years after redshirting a year ago.Irvine Invitational The UC Irvine Invitational includes 10 men's and 14 women's teams in competition. The women's 5,000-meters race is set for 9 a.m. while the men's 8,000-meters race is at 9:45 a.m. The teams competing include:
