In the event's preliminary round, Nuess touched in 3:48.36, placing 14th, earning him a spot in Friday evening's consolation finals round.
Also scoring for the Sun Devils Friday was Benedetti, who for the second night in a row added to the team's points total with an excellent performance in the three-meter diving consolation finals round. Totaling a score of 401.10, the Pac-10 Conference three-meter and platform diving champion placed 10th overall Friday evening after placing 12th in the event's preliminary round, earning a score of 351.85.
