Sun Devil senior swimmer C.J. Nuess and junior diver Micky Benedetti head to the NCAA Championships held at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash., this Thursday March 27 through Saturday March 29.
Last Year at NCAA Championships:
The Sun Devils placed 22nd overall last year at the NCAA Championships. Benedetti was the NCAA runner-up on platform last season and also earned honorable mention All-America honors on the one and three-meter. Nuess earned honorable mention honors in the 1,650 freestyle and 400 IM.
Championship Schedule:
Nuess will race in the 500 freestyle on Thursday while Benedetti will compete on the one-meter. Friday's events for the Sun Devils include the 400 IM for Nuess and the three meter for Benedetti. Benedetti will close out the meet on the platform on Saturday while Nuess' last event will be the 1,650 freestyle.
Nuess News:
All-American Nuess will be competing in his final NCAA Championships. Nuess currently stands at fifth in the 400 IM. The Medical Lake, Wash., native clocked in a career-best time of 3:44.51 at the Texas Relays earlier this season. Nuess also hit a personal best in the 1,650 freestyle to take the Pac-10 title in the event at the Pac-10 Championships. Nuess finished in 14:55.84 and is currently sixth nationally in the event. Nuess will also be competing in the 500 free, where he has a best time of 4:20.81.
Micky's House:
Last time Benedetti competed at Federal Way, Wash., was at the Pac-10 Championships where he made ASU history by becoming the first Sun Devil to sweep the diving events at the conference championships. Benedetti went on to win the three-meter and the platform at the NCAA Zone E meet.
