Christian Harcsas To Join ASU Men's Swimming Team

June 28, 2000

Tempe, Ariz. - Head Men's Swimming Coach Michael Chasson has signed talented backstroker and individual medley artist Christian Harcsas to a National Letter of Intent, Arizona State University announced Wednesday.

A native of Penzberg, Germany, Harcsas has spent the past two seasons at Golden West Junior College in Huntington Beach, Calif. As a sophomore in 2000 he enjoyed a stellar meet at the California Community Colleges Swimming Championships, earning state titles in the 100 back (49.20), 200 back (1:46.10) and 200 IM (1:50.80). Harcsas will have two years of eligibility remaining at ASU.

"Christian is a good backstroker who has a chance to make NCAA's coming in," Chasson said. "It will be up to him to get better. Hopefully he will be a capable replacement for [2000 All-American] Pablo Abal in the 100 back."
