ASU's NCAA Baseball Game Postponed

May 24, 1998

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - Severe weather forced tournament organizers to reschedule Sunday night's NCAA Midwest Regional championship game for 11 a.m. CDT Monday.

Georgia Tech was set to play Arizona State in the title game at 7 p.m. at Wichita State University, but severe thunderstorms and the potential for tornadoes around Wichita persuaded officials to reschedule the game.

The National Weather Service posted numerous thunderstorm warnings, tornado watches and tornado warnings across south-central and southeast Kansas Sunday evening. There were no immediate reports of confirmed twisters, damage or injuries.

Earlier Sunday, Georgia Tech advanced to the title game by beating Oklahoma State 6-5 behind dramatic ninth-inning home runs from Stephen Donaghey and Jay Hood.
