ASU's Chris Drouin Selected to NWCA All-Academic Division I Team

May 7, 2010

TEMPEChris Drouin, a rising senior on the Arizona State University wrestling team, has been selected to the 2010 NWCA All-Academic Division I Team, the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced this week. One of 76 individuals selected for the honor, Drouin is a member of the academic team for the second time in his career after also earning a spot on the list in 2008.

During his junior season, Drouin advanced to his third NCAA Wrestling Championships at 141 pounds after placing fifth in the Pac-10 Conference and being ranked among the national Top 20 all season. Drouin was selected for the academic honor after maintaining a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and being an NCAA qualifier. Through his third season on the mats, Drouin has carried a 3.36 overall GPA in his pursuit of a degree in justice studies.

The NWCA honor is the second academic award the Temecula, Calif., native has earned this season as he also earned Academic All-Pac-10 First Team honors following his junior campaign. The conference recognition is the third of his career and his first as a first-team honoree. In the previous two seasons, the Conference honored him as a member of the Academic All-Pac-10 Second Team.
