TEMPE, Ariz. (www.thesundevils.com) -- After the second day of the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships in Athens, Ga., Arizona State University women's swimming and diving is tied for 25th place. Sophomore Caitlin Andrew (San Antonio, Texas), freshman Amy Konowalik (Derby, England) and freshman Erin Hobbs (Calgary, Alberta) competed for the Sun Devils Friday.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Andrew finished second recording a school-record time of 52.23. She finished right behind Georgia senior Mary Descenza. During the preliminaries, Andrew touched the wall in 53.24. Last season at NCAAs, Andrew finished fourth in the event at the meet. Swimming in her second event of the day, Andrew recorded a 55.22 in the preliminaries of the 100-yard backstroke to finish 28th. Konowalik competed in the 400-yard IM for the Sun Devils touching the wall in 4:25.31. In diving, Hobbs recorded a 245.85 in the three-meter event.
