Women's Golf (Head Coach Melissa Luellen/3rd year at ASU): Finished in a tie for eighth at the 2005 NCAA Championships in Sunriver, Ore., the team's second straight top 10 national showing...ended the season ranked fifth in the nation in both the final Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index and the Golf World College Golf Coaches poll...third-year head coach Melissa Luellen was named the National Golf Coaches Association West Region Coach of the Year...freshman Louise Stahle was named the Eleanor Dudley Division I Player of the Year and the National Freshman of the Year...Stahle, who announced her decision to pursue a career in professional golf after just one season at ASU, also earned first-team All-America honors and captured the Golfstat Cup with the nation's lowest stroke average (71.77)...team finished in the top 10 in 11 of 12 events this season, including three tournament victories...senior Erin Tone was the team's top finisher at the NCAA Championships, tying for 12th individually...turned in a fourth-place showing at the NCAA Central Regional to earn ASU's 14th straight trip to the NCAA Championships, the second-longest streak in the country (trailing Stanford's 16)...finished second at the Pac-10 Championships, four strokes behind league champion UCLA...Stahle won the Pac-10 individual title...she was also named the Pac-10 Golfer of the Year and the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year...four Sun Devils earned All-Pac-10 honors, including Stahle (first team), junior Alissa Kuczka (second), sophomore Tiffany Tavee (second) and senior Erin Tone (honorable mention)...Stahle finished the season ranked No. 1 in the country in the national rankings...other Sun Devils in the final national rankings included Tavee (40th), Kuczka (53rd) and Tone (87th)...won the Price's Give 'Em Five Intercollegiate in October, ASU's first tournament victory in four seasons...followed that up with the team's first back-to-back victories in five years with a win at the Stanford/Pepsi Intercollegiate...also captured the team title at the PING/ASU Invitational, marking the first time that ASU won its own tournament since 2000...averaged 296.24 strokes per round in 2004-05...had five student-athletes named to the Academic All-Pac-10 squad, including senior Erin Tone who was named to the first team for the second consecutive season.
